Our client is a Toronto based well financed, progressive exploration company with impressive gold assets and a business plan to develop its prime asset and be in production within 18 months.

As COO you will be responsible for recruiting and building your own team while leading the company through the final stages of permitting, studies, engineering and construction. The initial task will focus on finalizing the (PEA) to produce gold and silver from the oxide resources by open pit mining and heap leaching. When complete and in profitable production you will then focus on advancing the sulphide ore body.

Ideally you will have several years’ experience taking mining projects through the development stage and into production. Your technical background and strong business acumen must be complimented with proven management skills and the ability to provide solid leadership to a multi-task team. Having an engineering degree and a track record of developing mining assets in Latin America is the ideal profile we are looking for in taking on this key role

You will coordinate and manage a multi-disciplinary team in the execution of Tailings and Mine Closure projects from scoping study stage through to basic engineering. Our client is recognized globally for providing mechanical design expertise to a wide variety of commodities. Their capability spans through the entire project lifecycle comprising; scoping, conceptual design, pre-feasibility, feasibility studies, detailed engineering, construction support and project management.

As lead Mechanical Engineer you will manage a team of engineers and designers responsible for the design, engineering, installations and commissioning of all mechanical equipment, services and systems associated with underground mining facilities. This will include shaft infrastructure, maintenance services, bulk materials handling machinery, dust capture, dewatering and service facilities etc.

Your degree in mechanical engineering should be combined with a minimum of 8 years underground experience, preferably soft rock, and solid planning/project engineering skills. Ideally you will have 15 to 20 years of relevant experience in advanced geotechnical design, exposure to seismic regions and construction of mine waste facilities. To oversee and direct the Construction Contractor for this brownfield mining project. This is a 12 month, $200 million ‘brown field’ project that is fast tracking towards production.

You must be familiar with the logistical challenges associated with similar projects in Northern communities and have a track record of managing similar projects through to completion in a timely and
cost-effective manner.

From a technical perspective you should be familiar with similar surface construction projects, but more importantly you should possess strong and proven skills in planning, scheduling, contract administration and cost controls in a similar environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for a ‘seasoned’ construction professional, who is used to handling contractors and knows how to optimize a positive working relationship. Compensation is excellent and will include incentives triggered by achieving targets for this 12-month assignment.
