Chris Stafford, President
Prior to forming C.J. Stafford & Associates in 1981, Chris spent over 15 years in engineering in Canada and England. Working for engineering consultants in the mining industry he has firsthand experience of living and working in mining communities and understands the issues associated with attracting and retaining talent. In addition to recruiting, he has been involved in career counselling, performance appraisals, skills analysis and has presented at the CIM conference 2015 (Sourcing talent for the next upturn). He has been interviewed for various publications and twice has appeared on BNN to share his thoughts on the mining sector.
From his own experience in mining, Chris knows the difficulty employers face in finding and attracting quality people. In large part, it is this appreciation that accounts for the company’s initial and continuing success.
Chris is a member of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada and the Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and chaired the education committee of the CIM Toronto branch. Outside of work Chris is an alumni member of the Toronto Scottish rugby club where he played and later ran as President.
James Stafford, Recruiting Consultant – Construction & Engineering
James started his career in construction at the age of eighteen as an electrical apprentice, a role that provided valuable insight into the labour and trades side of the industry. After graduating from the Construction Management Course at George Brown College, he spent 3 years working in the construction industry as Assistant Site Superintendent and as a Site Coordinator. When joining the company in 2013 James brought with him a strong technical background along with a resourceful and creative approach to our team. His can-do mentality has seen success on many challenging assignments as he continues to build a reputation for bringing outstanding candidates to the selection process.
Steve Petrovic, Senior Consultant – Technology and Innovation
Steve Petrovic has a B.Sc. from U of T and an M.B.A. from McMaster. During 20 years of business experience Steve has worked mostly in the heavy industrial, resource and engineering industries, including business development, executive search and management. Specific industries he has worked in include mining and metals, oil and gas, ship building, civil engineering, steel and transportation. The breadth and depth of his experience has provided a solid business insight into the many challenges that management faces when seeking to improve performance, increase efficiency and optimize talent. This knowledge and experience, combined with his passion for customer service and commitment to excellence, is what he now offers our clients, domestic and international.
Nick Resetar, Principal Consultant – Mining
Nick has over 25 plus years in senior human resources roles combined with a solid background in mining. He brings first-hand experience to the team, and to the benefit of our clients. In addition to executive search and recruiting responsibilities Nick will be available to advise clients on other human resources issues and workforce planning strategies. Nick has a Bachelor of Arts (Labour Relations/Human Resources) from Carleton University.
